Bell Tape's History
Like most small businesses Bell Tape Inc. has evolved over the years. The company started in the 1960's in the basement of Derald Bell's home. His family converted filament tape using a hand crank machine which ensured that his kids had strong arms and could count to 35 (each revolution equaled a foot of tape).
Wanting to expand, Derald invested in an electric machine that could slit 6" wide rolls of cloth tape used in the library supply industry into any width and length necessary. Derald's three kids would wind tape to earn extra money and the neighbor kids would join in by putting the finished rolls in plastic bags.
During the 1990's the manufacturer of the tape we converted established a sole master distributor who we were forced to buy from. This master distributor was also a large converter who raised our pricing and went direct to the end users. Needless to say this was a turning point for the company.
Since then Bell Tape Inc. has focused on distribution and continues to grow.
